Did You Know:?
77% of dog bites come from the FAMILY'S OWN dog or a FRIEND'S dog?
77% of dog bites come from the FAMILY'S OWN dog or a FRIEND'S dog?
That's a pretty high number isn't it? I'm excited to be a part of a campaign dedicated to educating families and reducing that number. By raising public awareness about dog body language and teaching both parents and kids how to interact safely and respectfully with dogs, I believe we can prevent a lot of bites and make life safer and more enjoyable for the whole family. Please feel free to contact me (Sam) if you have any questions or if you'd like to book a private session for your family.
What can YOU do?
Watch & Learn
After seeing the whole scenario again from the dog's perspective, I'm sure we can all think of times we may have allowed our dogs to be in some pretty uncomfortable situations. Some dogs are incredibly tolerant and show great bite inhibition BUT every dog has its limits. Be fair and realistic about what your dog puts up with and watch for your dog's body language for signs that it isn't comfortable. Teach your family and friends the early warning signs that many people miss and when they say that "the dog bit without warning" and also how to respect the dog's space when it shows these signs. Your dog will thank you =0)
